\addindex in *.sas program not working for LaTeX about doxygen

You are talking about a *.sas program. *.sas files are not directly supported by doxygen so they should be used in combination with the settings EXTENSION_MAPPING and *FILTER* settings, though from the issue report this is not clear so to be able to reproduce the problem:

• Can you please attach a, small, self contained example (source+configuration file in a, compressed, tar or zip file!) that allows us to reproduce the problem? Please don't add external links as they might not be persistent (also references to GitHub repositories are considered non persistent).

Revisiting this issue.

In the documentation we see:

\addindex (text)

This command adds (text) to the LaTeX , DocBook and RTF index.

So for the command:

\addindex functions!open, close!attrc, attrn

this means that the text here is functions!open, close!attrc, attrn and we see in the latex index also this complete text.
There is currently, at the user level, no possibility to define define sublevels of indices for the index.
