Incorrectly configured YAML somewhere?
I just created a Rails 3.0.5 app on 1.8.7, added daemons to my gemfile, bundle update, installed the plugin, created a daemon using the rake script, started daemon using the rake script.
Worked fine. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for your help. I tried the same as you with a new rails app and still
got an error although this time it was complaining about activesource. What
version of activesource should be installed?
here is my gem listing.

The ActiveResource (I guess this is what you mean by activesource) should be the same version as your rails version.
Have you run 'bundle update'?
'bundle list' will give you all the currently included gems.

Sorry - i'm a .net guy who recently got into Rails.
I did a bundle update and that didn't do it. Then I went through and
uninstalled all the v3.0.4 gems of: actionpack, activemodel, activerecord,
activeresource & activesupport and now it runs.
Thanks for your help!
