MacOS - no basemap about blendergis

I am having the same problem.

Blender GIS: v2.2.8
Blender: 4.1.1
Device: Macbook M1 2020
Mac OS: Sonoma 14.1.1

Same issue here. Also on Blender GIS v2.2.8 and Blender 4.1.1. I'm on an M3 Pro MBP running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1. I wonder if this is just a MacOS thing? Seems to work fine on my Windows 11 PC. I click the GIS menu item, hit Basemap, and hit Ok. Then, the view shifts to the orthographic view, but it doesn't display any maps, and the camera zoom/view distance are not adjusted. It was saying that it was loading tiles, however after uninstalling and reinstalling now it just gives me an error message.

Update

The solution in #655 (comment) (referenced by #868 (comment)) solved the problem for me. Maybe this should be automatically installed when the plugin initializes?
