docopt fails to compile under cargo about docopt.rs

I'm not sure why yet, but you need to tell cargo where you find libraries. I was able to reproduce your error and fix it with:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="./target/deps" cargo build

Assuming you're in your project root.
