I am not sure what the usecase is for this feature? I suppose you are running the port behind some reverse proxy?

But in that case it should also be possible to strip the path from the request before forwarding it to the container. At least nginx can do that pretty easily, so I assume other reverse proxies have similar functionality.

That would solve your problem too, because Id rather not change it on my end. As the nginx.conf is currently not dynamicly generated, so it will be easier if you just fix it from your side.
