Hey,

for importing ply files you can use the ObjectLoader, be aware that we are only using the internal .ply importer, which is by far not perfect.

We call this function:

bpy.ops.import_mesh.ply(filepath=filepath, **kwargs)

Which is documented here:

https://docs.blender.org/api/current/bpy.ops.import_mesh.html#bpy.ops.import_mesh.ply

Because if i load objects from both datasets, the ycbv and the own, the objects from both gets placed, but in the output image i only see the objects from ycbv dataset.

I don't fully understand this sentence, it seems that your own objects are invisible? That seems like that the .ply files are not completly compatible with blender. What you could try is converting them in a different format and see if it works then. MeshLab has proven quite good at that in the past: https://www.meshlab.net/

If this doesn't answer your question, please try to rephrase it.
