But really I wonder if this kind of pattern should be recognized, and changed to char[N] = "LOTS OF TEXT...\0";, where N is detected by ctod to at least make the sizeof calculation accurate?

I already did count the size of {} array initializers to give a number to a static array, I expanded it to string literals in 79bd599 (minus special escape sequences \u \U).

In the remaining cases, for example char x[] = MACRO;, I now just write char[$] x = MACRO; which will give an error on the D side (or not once it finally gets implemented :P) As of e15c31e C arrays are no longer printed in D as pointers, but converted to pointer types only in parameter lists.
