Which extensions are you setting Category and Tags on? What version of File Meta are you using? When do you last remember it working?

Update - i moved my OS to a new SSD - Search index had to be rebuilt. Now, search does not register any categories or tags, and I can't add them.
But when I go to the individual folders, the metadata is there, and viewable. Just not when accessing properties on anything that shows up via the search. Can't sort or add any metadata through the search.

In moving your OS, did the drive letter change? If so, did you change the folders to be indexed?
Assuming that is okay. This, if you go to a folder containing your files with tags, and in the search box at the top right of Explorer, you enter something like keywords:=tagval where tagval is one of your tag values, does anything show up?

SHOOT. I fixed it somehow lol. So basically, I had been dismayed by not being able to add categories and such, so I added to the search index to also include contents of the files. Which is what eliminated it from the search entirely. So I just now decided to try and uncheck that and have windows re-index that area, and bam... shows up in search AND lets me change and add tags now. Also no did not change the drive, but when cloning the OS partition, it does assign it a different letter until you restart and boot into the clone - which then assigns a different letter to the origin drive.
Thanks for your patience!!
