I actually looked at this a couple of months ago, and found a timing problem in wx which I fixed to 18.3 or 19.
But great if this solves it, though I don't understand why, a refresh should be done after wxShow().
Seems like some timing with wx is still bad.

Ops. Maybe it's only me using the Erlang 18.0.
I'm going to update it.
