Major changes from 3.10 to 4.18:

• File structure changed in 3.19, f_dentry was moved
• Time Stamp Counter (TSC) API changed in 4.17
• Some pci_dma_* compatibility headers were eliminated in 4.6
• Kernel timer callback scheme totally changed in kernel 4.14
• interruptible_sleep_on_timeout() was deprecated a long time ago and is now gone

The kernel timer API change was the biggest issue. Had to move the timer list into the PCI device struct in order to get access to which card triggered the callback in the new scheme.

To replace interruptible_sleep_on_timeout(), followed this patch from lm-sensors:
