This does not fix the problem with and without this option it does not work.
I have had this problem for quite some time. I'm using version 23.3.0 to be able to work.

Try downgrading the driver version to the previous 3.0.7 (or upgrade to the latest 3.3.3) to see if it works:

Changing drivers doesn't help either. I changed MariaDB Connector/J from 3.3.3 to 2.6.0 and it keeps giving the same error.

Just ensuring we're not missing something, did the "update driver" dialog show after changing the version and reconnecting to the database?

As I said it above with 23.3.0.202312122044 anything goes. After this version the problems start. And with this old version I am with 3.0.7 version of the driver

@lubakka, Hi, could you see what query is sent to database, you can open it in Window -> View -> Query Manager.

Yes, of course you can see. The error is there both with and without the setting for "Use SQL to limit fetch size"
