I played with that a little in the first version, but when you select more than one line of text, using the input panel can be confusing. For example, if your selection ends with empty lines, the selected text may scroll out of view in the input panel.
I'll look at this again.

I don't think that's a problem. It must be OK to take only the first line of the selection and remove \n from it (if it is there).

I've decided not to implement this. I want to leave open the possibility of using the current selection as the scope of the filter.

Ok, thanks anyway. If that won't be difficult, could you produce a patch or a branch that does that functionality? It sounds like a few lines job, however I don't speak Python.
