Yes, it's old, but not abandoned. And yes, there are problems with the storage, which I switched multiple times by now. If you are smart enough, you can fix it yourself easily. If not, the version on the TS addon website is working (using it myself on multiple servers), if you just follow the readme instructions.

does not work at all for me, tracing the stack error, it appears to be looking for a pdb file that is not being created when run, or is not included in the installer from the addons website.

How yours is working from the installer is beyond me, unless your insall destination had resifdual pdb files that the current installer is creating.
I have also tried this on win vista, and win8 with same poor results.

I removed all the old database providers and added SQLite. Additionally the solution is updated to VS2013 with .NET4 (enough for now), MVC4 (for the unfinished Web UI) and whatever was old. It should be fine now. ;-)
