Sounds like a good idea but keep in mind that it also means a lot of work – even more maintenance than it already is. People usually submit single-line patches to add a link; they won’t bother updating the index README.md.

I think you can build some kind of rules to limit the update format of future commits. Put the rules in README so everyone can see that. The maintenance black hole of old writeups can be ignored.

Ok I added rules/a format to CONTRIBUTING.md. Please close this Issue if you are OK with this decision. If you know of any other rules that we might add, please leave a comment.

I really believe this would be a very good idea to implement, and I was actually thinking of doing this for the 2014 repo as well. However, I have to say that I find the current format (as it is in the folder for Ghost In The Shellcode right now) quite confusing.

At the moment there is no list that allows one to see which challenges have at least one write up (either in the repo or externally). So you still end up have to go through tasks without any write ups, or having to mentally diff the second and third lists...

Would it be possible to split the write ups into these three categories instead?
Category one: Write up present in repo
Category two: Only external write ups
Category three: No write ups at all

This way one can click the links in the first two categories to find all tasks that have write ups.

Please comment on how this sounds to you all :)
