I'm purchasing a Surface 2 at the end of the month and it looks like git is the only failing point as a developer - I'd love to help out with this if possible.

That would be great. The main thing I need is the most minimal set of files to create a winjs app, the most minimal build tools (preferably something that could be done on a chromebook or using well-supported web-services)
Then I would need adapters for the primitives. These APIs are still changing, but for git-browser it's tcp, http, and storage.
