Root page doesn't have a slug. Even if it's set somehow, it doesn't do anything. Root page always has full_path of /. Child pages do have slugs. So page with slug help will have full_path /help and is a child of the root page.

I am only using CMS for static content on our new website.
The static content will be edited by interns (who have very little clue), so having a stub root page could cause confusion

Ah, so your index page is managed by the application. Basically you don't want to show the root page in the admin view. Due to how things are structured that page has to be present, but I see why you'd want to hide it.

Yeah. I looked at the source, and seems like the "CmsPage#assign_full_path" method is the culprit. You reckon the best solution would be adding a config var?

I'm closing this ticket as it seems like a lot of work just to hide a root page. I'd welcome a patch if it can be done cleanly.
