onBeforeSerialize example to remove fields? about silverstripe-restfulapi

For example, if used with a DataExtension, let's say on the Member DataObject, you could do something like:

function onBeforeSerialize()
{
    $this->owner->Password = null;
    unset($this->owner->Salt); // or using unset
}

I'll have to add this to the doc at some point, so reopening this until then...

Since the module now use the config api to access DataObject $db etc, setting those to null would indeed not remove them from the returned json.

This can be done however by updating the DataObject's config like so:

public function onBeforeSerialize()
{
  $conf = Config::inst()->get( $this->owner->ClassName, 'db' );
  unset($conf['Password']);
  unset($conf['PasswordEncryption']);
  unset($conf['Salt']);

  Config::inst()->remove( $this->owner->ClassName, 'db' );
  Config::inst()->update( $this->owner->ClassName, 'db', $conf );
}
