I think that it matters.
p refers to the last user examined in the loop before:
for entry in self.data.trainingData:
user, item, rating = entry
u = self.data.user[user]
p = self.P[u].copy()

So if we don't use P[u] instead of p, we update the relationLoss using always the last user examined in the other loop.
