FWIW, I'm working on a Twilio testing proxy that will let you configure a whitelist of test phone numbers outside your application so as to prevent polluting the logic within your application. We considered this when building Hermes but didn't think we had enough time.

To use this proxy all you will need to do is:

• Configure the proxy with your application's API and the whitelist of test phone numbers, and
• Point Twilio to this proxy's API instead of your application's API.

I hope to have this built and deployed as a useable service by the end of this weekend (5/19).
