What is WebRTC
WebRTC is a collection of API’s that allow peer to peer connection’s between two browser clients
It was developed and is maintained by google, It has been published as a specification by the W3C and all browsers support it.
WebRTC vs Websockets
WebRTC is commonly used for video chatting apps as it allows two or more computers to connect and send video and audio data without need for a server.
Websockets allow for a 2 way connection between a server and client using the ws:// protocol
