I'm guessing this is a WxPython /linux issue. I ran your script on my Win8 machine and it ran without error.

Unfortunately, I can't be of much help on this one. I'm a mouth breathing windows guy, so I wouldn't know where to begin debugging issues with Wx and Linux. :(

Maybe try running some of the WxPython sample apps and see if you get the same thing?

That's cool. I'm better at Windows than I am at Linux as well.

I ran an example mockapplication or two and got something like this:

Gdk:ERROR:/build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.24.23/gdk/gdkregion-generic.c:1110:miUnionNonO: assertion failed: (y1 < y2)

Another one was like this:

Gtk:ERROR:/build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.24.23/gtk/gtktextlayout.c:1224:get_style: assertion failed: (layout->one_style_cache == NULL)

I'll try play around with wxPython a bit more (i.e. try install it differently perhaps)
