Knife Search throwing error about chef-zero

Ran into the same issue. I believe this is a problem with trying to run chef-zero on ruby 1.8

bbaugher, you are correct. I forgot I had this ticket out there, and I should have updated when this was all fresh. The issue is with a method call that returns an integer in 1.8 and returns a char in 1.9+. Don't recall the exact method, but I think it retrieved the char at a given index in a string, and in 1.8 that returned the ascii code for the char, and in 1.9 it returned the char itself.

I'm sorry that this ticket has languished in the wilderness for so long, but since the last activity was two years ago and this seems to be a ruby 1.8 -> 1.9 bug, I think we can safely close it. If this seems unreasonable (or you're still seeing this occur in a supported ruby), please feel free to reopen this ticket.
