You can add tags while creating the topic. See

Categories are intentionally removed because they don't fit the use cases of Sandstorm. You should create different grains for each category.

I'll check what's wrong with the smileys.

Thanks. I feel silly now but at least I have now found the tags :-)
I understand what you are saying with regards to removing the categories, thanks for explaining. I was just thinking that "maybe" when sandstorm is mature, and networking in and out is working as well as quotas and users/groups one could possibly use a fully-fledged forum with categories and all but right now the separation per grain makes sense.
