I'd be open to this. I have limited review bandwidth, but if someone has a simple PR with a clean implementation and tests, I think I would be inclined to merge. I like using positional-arguments, and the only reason they aren't a default is because it was a relatively late addition. They fix so may issues with quoting that anything that makes them nicer is great.
