Hi Daniel, this was the initial idea, but it was split in two parts for the X carriage to be printable without enabling support material (how are you going to print this one?)

My actual idea was to use support material, it's easy to get rid of it and also gives some kind of rugged surface which helps to have the nut really tight in the hole

Is a requirement of the project not using support material when printing?

I have retouched the previous sketch to avoid using support material when printing, the small part is very similar to the existing one but this one is thicker, has 2 screws(M2) meaning there is more contact area.

Not using support material is preferred, I don't have good experiences with it.

I agree with putting two screws, but I really think the threaded rod should be removable "sideways" (the hex shape should be open) to simplify assembly and also dismantling the machine.
Doing so you only need to assemble the X threaded rod (gears, bearings) once.

Thank you for the videos too, they are very useful to understand the design better.

Carlos, I have expended a couple of good 2 hours trying to figure out how to design something that meets the requirements and indeed its very challenging not using support material when printing and having the ability to remove the xz-carriage sideways.
I have done something that has some support material when printing but really minimal, I will print the design once I re-assemble my printer which is still in a box to see how it comes out.

I like it a lot, neat job!! I'm sure this concept is feasible with no support material at all.
Please let me know how it prints :)

I have sent a pull request (#6) regarding this part, but I really like the latest proposed solution! :)

Printed without support, a few loose strands of filament but overall very usable print.

Glad to hear that! if possible please give us feedback about the performance of this design.
