Try this:

NativeLibrary.addSearchPath(RuntimeUtil.getLibVlcLibraryName(), "PATH-TO-FOLDER-WITH-LIBVLC");
}

That works for me. But note that its a folder, and not the dll that should be specified. I guess this is also your problem; i.e. that libvlc.dll depends on more libraries, which Java don't know where is.

There is nothing wrong with vlc. There is nothing wrong with vlcj. Your posted code fragment has nothing to do with vlcj in fact.

System.load() is not the recommended way to initialise a native library. By the way, System.load() works for me on 64-bit Ubuntu.

This, as used by all of the vlcj examples and as stated in the vlcj documentation, works for me on my virtual Windows pc:

NativeLibrary.addSearchPath("vlc", "c:\program files\videolan\vlc");

Why you're flying in the face of the documentation and using System.load() instead I have no idea.
