I found a way to fire an "empty" event without having to touch the async.js
source code:
In my module:
var tasks = async.tqueue(function (task, cb)
{
do_something_async(task.url, function ()
{
cb(arguments);
// check tasks.length after the callback because the callback itself could add more tasks to the queue.
// XXX: this assumes that the callback is synchronous.
if (tasks.length() === 0) {
exports.emit("idle");
}
});
}, 2);
This assumes that my module is an EventEmitter:
exports = module.exports = new events.EventEmitter();

Take a look at the work on #21 by MaZderMind, queues now support a 'drain' callback.

Thanks, that's exactly what I need.
