Seems this is mostly about timing. IE6 and IE7 tends to be slow, which in turn tends to extract weird behaviour from our own code and faye which some times assume everything is up and running after a negligible amount of time have passed. So thankfully we don't seem to have to handle weird IE quirks specifically.
