The readme file should state how/whether the library is copyright/licensed, before it can be used with Macaulay2.

Hi, I tried to compile mathic and had some errors, but I don't know how to fix it.

1. memtailor was downloaded and installed.
2. In the folder mathic-master, I did
   $ ./autogen.sh
   $ ./configure
   $ make

Then, the following:

Hello!

I am working on packaging mathic (and mathicgb) for Debian, in the hopes of eventually getting Macaulay2 into Debian and its derivatives.

Debian packaging works best when there is a nice release tarball to work with (see [1]). Right now, I have to use a script to create one.

With GitHub, you just need to tag a given commit to make a tarball available for download.
