thanks for reporting this and posting the test code. i had seen this error 
before but
was not able to reproduce it. thanks to your code, i was able to reproduce it 
fairly
regularly and i have put in a fix for it. the fix will be included in the next
release of Growl.

the RC1 version of GfW contains the fix for this:

try it out and let me know if you can confirm the fix.

The RC1 seems to fix the user crash and the server error 300, but not the server
error 201.

A proper client should handle the 201 so it's not a big problem anymore.
