compactMap
was introduced in Swift 4.1 and from the stack trace it looks like you’re building on 4.0.

If you have the time, please have a try using the dns_sd branch that I’m working on. It uses avahi on Linux, instead of my mDNS responder, which has more corner cases resolved I assume.

Building on 4.1.3 fixed the issue. Will try the other branch.
A side question: when I try to get the local hostname under Linux using the same method as I do on macOS I get nil. What is the correct way to get the hostname under Linux? Thanks!
Host.current().localizedName

I located your function get getting the hostname in your utils but how do I get access to the posix library for that? I get this error:
/home/robreuss/Development/VirtualMobileController/VirtualMobileController_Linux/Sources/Linux/Networker.swift:110:17: error: use of unresolved identifier 'posix'
Do I need to import something to make posix function calls?
from netservice.
posix
is not a library, but a function like gethostname
, both defined in: https://github.com/Bouke/NetService/blob/master/Sources/NetService/Utils.swift. Mind you that gethostname
is just a call to C library's gethostname
. See also man gethostname
.
