@omenkzz are you using the RubyGems version or the latest commit in your Gemfile?

Try this:
gem 'thumbs_up', git: 'https://github.com/bouchard/thumbs_up.git', ref: 'f499a7c803c0a9fdcefe4275f2f0a10ca7964508'

is convenient Bundler shorthand for any Github-hosted gem.

+1 but to not update on accident you have to be more specific (whether you use branch or ref).
