Fixed as of daf0729.
I've added support to the .conf grammar for quoted strings, so if your datatype is set to :binary, then when your initial schema is written, it will be wrapped in double quotes. You can also provide quoted strings for values in the .conf. The value returned will have it's quotes stripped off, and will be returned like any other value. If you need to escape quotes, you can do "test \"inner string\" some stuff".
Let me know if you encounter any problems. This was released on hex as 0.10.1.

Well I jacked up the hex packaging for 0.10.1, so I pushed a new package 0.10.2. I'll be updating exrm tonight as well.
