I took the "simple bug" approach in fixing this one. Unfortunately in the general case we don't have the type information available at parse time because it has not yet been associated with an object, and files are not always associated with objects. I'm optimistic we can find a simple set of parsing rules that avoids having to rely on object type information, but if more bugs like this crop up then I might have to re-evaluate my position.
