Hey @civicpath ,
This was the way BigCommerce for Wordpress was intentionally designed, but we'd love to hear your feedback. Are you running into a use case where this is problematic?

@karen-white - It was more just a surprise because I saw dozens of products come through that I had hidden long ago.

I think there are some valid use cases to make the plugin at least aware of product visibility. Just so that actions in BigCommerce are reflected in WP sites referencing the products.

There are reasons why a BigCommerce admin would hide a product after some time, including if the inventory runs out, the product is discontinued, or it is meant for internal ordering purposes only.
(From BC: https://support.bigcommerce.com/articles/Public/Product-Visibility)

In any of these situations, that visibility setting ought to be something the WP Plugin is made aware of... I think that's where I was getting at originally when questioning why hidden products were importing. What I should have been asking is will the WP Plugin be aware of BigCommerce Product Visibility. Ditto for "Product Availability Settings". That's a new/different thing and I'll put that in a new/different issue.

I've found that deleting a product from BC deletes the corresponding product in WP. That's what I would expect, and I guess that the same kind of behavior I would expect from Visibility and Availability settings.

For the purpose of my original request, I'd suggest one of two things:

  1. Enhancement to include an "Exclude Hidden Products" check box on the Plugin Settings -> Product Import section... or
  2. Simply modify the language to inform users
    Product Sync
"We will automatically synchronize your catalog every:"

Note: All products in your catalog will be synchronized in Wordpress regardless of visibility and availability settings. Products you delete from BigCommerce will be deleted from WordPress at your next import.

@civicpath Quick update--We're adding a new feature to the BigCommerce UI in the next few days that will allow you to select on a product-by-product basis which products to list to your WordPress channel(s). Closing this out, but please feel free to open a new issue if you have any feature requests related to the new product import process!
