The original Clara code for that embedded, yet another, external library. I removed that dependency to facilitate portability. One key issue with bringing nicer formatting back as it was in Clara is that it's language dependent. And one of my eventual goals is to support localization. Which then would be rather hard to accomplish with such formatting (mainly because of non-LTR languages). Additionally that Clara external lib was very limited in that it did not support variable width of terminals.
I'll see if I can find an existing library that can do the formatting that can be used optionally.

@mattgodbolt I definitely welcome any form of help :-) I'll ping you on Slack about it.

I think just removing the double-newlines goes a long way to make it look much better. Not sure what having all the blank lines does for supporting rtl languages? The more standard layout seen in the Clara example above is even better, but if that will require a long time to fix, maybe just remove the blank lines meanwhile?

Same concern here, how can we get the nicer/more compact format?

Thanks @grafikrobot . If you need a hand, let me know. I'd gladly step in as we're using this library at work. I was thinking of looking into it but didn't know about the requirements :)
