Ugh this means I need to install Chrome 28. Damn you Jake, damn you. Hopefully
this airport wifi won't crap out in the process.

Can you try opening the extension settings page: chrome://extensions/ and
pressing Cmd+R (refresh)? That'll trigger a reload.

No change. I can clone and load the unpacked extension tomorrow and try to
debug if you're unable to repro.

I assume this is due to the deeper integration with the Google search bar now
being baked into the browser rather than part of the containing page. Seeing
the same failure with Jeff Gilfelt's resource extension as well.

Hm, I can't repro with latest Chrome Canary. If you get me the exact version #
I'll see if I can debug tomorrow. It'd also help if you could:

1) open the extensions settings page
2) make sure "Developer mode" at the top-right is checked
3) inspected "_generated_background_page.html" for the extension
4) open the console tab
5) paste any errors you see

I'm on Version 28.0.1500.52 beta and there are no errors in the console. I
tried debugging/logging but it wasn't working properly without the unpacked
version loaded. It was triggering my breakpoint on the change callback but I
couldn't get the 'query' variable to show in a watch, log, or evaluating it in
the console.

I did try on Version 30.0.1549.0 canary, however, and it seemed to be working
just fine. Found a few omnibox-related bugs on the issue tracker but nothing
that looked similar to what I am seeing.

As of at least 28.0.1500.71 beta it seems to be working again.
