Oh, that sucks. :( A quick workaround might be to alias curl to "curl -whateverflagsyouneed" before running the installer.

I wonder if you could pull in the proxy settings using the following command to find the current OS-wide proxy settings:
networksetup -getwebproxy <networkservice>
The only problem being you don't exactly know which networkservice is being used. I find it hard to believe there isn't some way to determine that somehow—although I don't see anything like that in networksetup itself

You can use npm to install Pow from behind a proxy server: https://github.com/37signals/pow/wiki/Installation
Closing the issue for now, but I'd welcome a patch to install.sh that supports this too.
