Yes, config.public_file_server.enabled = true is set by default.

I've solved the caching issue by adding a condition on image rendering:

    <%= image_tag(post.photo_url) if post.photo? %>
    <%= image_tag(post.photo.thumb.url) if post.photo.thumb.file.exists? %>

That catches the case when after saving the image it's rendered instantly, but the background worker is still cropping it.

I've solved this issue after enabling the checkbox "Disable cache" in the Networks of Dev Tools:

Now it shows thumbs, however the request header is Cache-Control: no-cache but Chrome returns a cached response.

But as I see by default browser caching is enabled and image thumbs that are processed in the background won't be shown on the page but with the error '404 Not Found'.

So, I don't know if this is an issue of kamal/traefik or a common problem, the ticket could be closed in that case.

I am not sure that this is the issue, but do you have config.public_file_server.enabled = true in the environment configuration?
