Thanks for opening this issue. From the stack, it looks like an issue with the parsing of the DynamoDB record.

If possible, could you share an example of your what the records in your table look like?

I can't from the table I actually used to get this, but let me see if I can create a test table with an item that gives the same error.

the data in this table definitely works fine with the old sdk

It looks like you are using the DynamoDB client from NPM. Is that correct?

There was a fix made on that client that has not yet been released. It would be great if you had a chance to test against the client in this repository to confirm the unreleased change addresses the issue you're seeing.
