You should use git bisect
to narrow down the problem to the specific astropy PR that made your tests start failing. This is actually not that difficult if you haven't used it before. And of course a bit more information on the specific failure would help here.

@taldcroft The problem seems to have resolved itself when I tried again! I will provide more details if it occurs again. For your reference, here is the build that failed: https://travis-ci.org/astropy/specutils/jobs/27725294
In fact it failed this time again due to a change in models, but I figured out what the change was and fixed it.
