@jordanegstad This is something which I just added to the Readme.md’s todo list too on this repository. So I will definitely dig deeper and investigate it soon.
It has been considered, but haven’t yet had time to do proper testing. translate3d seems to cause other problems with for example type rendering on OS X, so I also need to test if translateY would be a better choice here.
Anyway, both of them are quite easy to implement.
p.s. Updated the header of the issue as I don’t think this has anything to do with easing. Easing can already be changed via CSS. :)

This is great stuff! I'm pretty sure that animating the height property won't get you hardware acceleration because it's not something that you can do with a simple matrix transforms. Translate is probably the way to go for really smooth animations.
