This is because each line is treated as a separate shell script, this way we are given flexibility to do whatever we want.
Regarding your prefixing issue, there is ticket #44, which will ease the pain of doing repeatable stuff in build process, I guess it will be released in bigtuna 1.4 -- if no issues arise it will be in few days.
