Support generic platforms about cordova-discuss

We also got https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-10239 which is kind of related.

We don't necessarily need to remove/move the aliasing. A quick fix would be just to allow non known platforms to run. Essentially skip the aliasing if it isn't in the known platforms list.

In getPlatformAPI the only use of platformConfig.json is https://github.com/apache/cordova-lib/blob/master/cordova-lib/src/platforms/platforms.js#L49 and the error handler that calls apiCompatibleSince -- those are easily changed/removed.

TheplatformConfig.json file is a legacy file that is only used for PlatformAPIPoly.js, which is used when a platform does not conform to the Platform API. It could be time to remove this file and its usage?

Browser and other older platforms don't have API.js yet. So they rely on PlatformAPIPoly.js.
