Old enhancement suggestion but I'd like to bump this up - this script saves my daily work by a lot already and the "save for web" optimization would be the cherry on top.

@IrealiTY Thanks for bumping this.
I did some of my own exports and am seeing the opposite happen. Where the script produces images that are smaller. (Though it isn't really making sense to me, as we use Save for Web under the hood anyway).
Could you maybe share what export settings are you using, both within the script and outside of it, so I can try to better reproduce this?

Don't know why, sometimes Export JPG compressed and sometimes is not. I expected compressed because it's quick to export. But ended with large size even the resolution is 640x300px (artboart).
Adobe Photoshop Version: 22.3.0 20210302.r.49 660cd2e x64
Settings:
Export > All Layers
Output Options > Merge Groups as Layers
Export as JPG:
Trim Each Layers
Quality 100
ICC Profile
Optimize
Progressive
