I have no windows to test this right now but maybe the trick from lxn/walk works here, too?
try to build with go build -ldflags="-H windowsgui".

Yes, it's a feature of Windows where the executable header determines whether or not to show a console window. I haven't tried @cryptix's answer, but if it works, I'll close the issue.

The build flags suggested by @cryptix work for me to hide the console.

Possible alternative

I'm not sure if I want to do this, however, as
a) that would leave stdin/stdout/stderr dangling
b) I don't know if calling this function on a linked-as-console program would kill that program
Still a possibility.
