Welcome to my profile 👋
Alejandro Fontal's personal Website

I'm Alejandro, a researcher from Barcelona specialized in the application of Data Science in several areas, including but not limited to Bioinformatics, Epidemiology and Computational Biomedicine. Feel free to reach me in any of the socials I left above!

Current role

I am currently performing my research in the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), while pursuing a PhD in the University of Barcelona (UB) funded by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship under the umbrella of the HELICAL Innovative Training Network.

In my research project, I combine tools from Time Series Analysis, GIS, Metagenomic sequencing and Epidemiology to try to find out what are the etiologic agents causing a pedriatric syndrome affecting thousands of children every year: Kawasaki Disease.
