One of the main design goals of Clikt was to allow you to define custom parameters. Is there something stopping you from writing your own extension function?
fun CliktCommand.spelunkDirectoryOption() = option("--dir",
help = "Path to your Spelunk directory (defaults to current directory)")
.file(exists = true, readable = true, folderOkay = true, fileOkay = false)
.default(Paths.get("").toFile())
class Cli : CliktCommand() {
val spelunkDir by spelunkDirectoryOption()
// ...
}

(Whoops, inheritance does work, I had a bug that prevented it from working! I'll scope down my request to just easier single-field reuse.)

Ah, that's an interesting way! The custom extension function is "inside" CliktCommand
's scope, so it can see option
.
Thank you, I think that solves this nicely.
