Excellent, glad you have this tracked. This would probably explain a silent exception that was raised through the ahn_hoptoad component (though it wasn't its fault).

My ahn_hoptoad.yml included :host: https://airbrake.io, but toadhopper 2.0 does not support SSL (though it will soon).

Was a bit difficult to track down the issue, as it was not being logged to ahn_log.

I realize that addressing this issue is probably going to take some care.. as misbehaving Theatre event handlers could endlessly continue to raise exceptions in response to other exceptions.

Ben, I am not sure this is entirely fixed. I've updated my instance to rev 062e115, and wrote this faulty after_initialized event with an exception-raise in it. Unfortunately, no mention of the exception is found in the logs.
