Expecto.Adapter 5.0.0-alpha008 is not compatible with Expecto 5.0, information in nuspec is incorrect:

It is compatible only with Expecto (>= 5.0.0-beta1 && <= 5.0.0-rc1).
@adamchester will release today a new version of adapter which should be compatible with Expecto (>= 5.0.0 && <= 6.0.0)

Did you check the binding redirects for FSharp.Core in your test project? I don't think I've ever had MissingMethodExceptions in F# for any other reason than incorrect binding redirects.

Just tried adding binding redirects. No difference. I'm now at .NET framework 4.7, so don't know if that would fix it at a lower version.
